Profile

I am a qualified Cost Lawyer over 13 years’ experience working within the niche area of Legal Costs. I have grown and matured within the ever-changing world of cost law. In this time I have seen numerous changes in relation to bills of costs, and have the ability to draw on that knowledge when providing advice both to colleagues and fee earners alike.

I am a very ambitious person always looking for new challenges and personal development. I have a proven ability to manage and complete work to the highest standard with meticulous attention to detail within agreed deadlines. My considered and managed approach has resulted in favourable settlements for my clients. I am knowledgeable of the relevant Legislation, Rules and Regulations and have a sound understanding of relevant case law. I am confident, highly articulate and able to communicate at all levels, giving clients the confidence that their matters can be dealt with in a professional manner which is both timely and cost effective.

Education

I obtained an LL.B (Hon’s) Law Degree from the University of Sunderland and simultaneously a qualification through the National Association of Licensed Paralegals. I went on to complete my Legal Practice Course at Northumbria University whilst working as a Paralegal in a Family Law Firm in Newcastle. I qualified as Costs Lawyer in March 2016.

Career

I joined Cost Law Services Ltd. in September 2021. With over 13 years’ experience working both in-house and for leading cost firms in the North West and North East, I have gained a wealth of experience giving me a diverse perspective as to the role of a Cost Lawyer and many of arguments raised.

I have a sound working knowledge of a variety of areas of law, including Inter Partes (complex Personal Injury/Credit Hire with allegations of fraud and Disease-related claims, Clinical and Professional Negligence, Commercial and Judicial Review), Court of Protection, Solicitor own Client work, Legal Aid (Public and Private Family Law, Housing, Actions against the Police/Authorities, Mental Health, Court of Protection, Judicial Review etc.) and Barrister Direct Access work

I have previously represented both the receiving party and paying party and have extensive experience preparing phased Bills of Costs and electronic Bill of Costs, Points of Dispute, Points of Reply, Precedent H’s and all associated documentation. Legal Aid work to include CCMS Fixed Fee Billing, Bill of Costs for Assessment, EX80A and EX80B, Post Assessment Claim Forms.

Interests

My spare time is mainly spent adventuring my 8 month old Daughter, my Husband and friends. I enjoy travelling and learning about new cultures (I am desperate to learn a second language) and cuisines. When we are not travelling abroad we love to get away in our self-converted VW T5…the aim is to do the NC500 and a tour of the south of France.

If I am outside I am happy… mountain biking, surfing, paddleboarding, hiking (skiing when I get the chance) or just a leisurely stroll with my two dogs. If the weather won’t allow, you’ll find me in the gym or doing some yoga.
